Something special happens when a traditional, feminine wedding meets Jeff and Jewels Photography. Their edgy style always shines through in unexpected ways. I have seen many a Della Terra Wedding but this one – their first at the chateau – feels very different to me. Their fresh eyes had a special take on the unique light of the hotel room and the beauty of the location in general. Kinda made me fall in love with it all over again. It certainly doesn’t hurt that we have a beautiful couple, an incredible gown, an angelic flower girl, and some of the best cookies a Coloradan can find. And of course Scott sent Courtney Starbucks with “My Bride I love you” written on it. That’s a keeper in my book! Congratulations and wishes for a lifetime of happiness Courtney and Scott!
We got engaged on December 7th, 2012 in Orlando, Florida. Scott had to be in Orlando for work that week. We thought it would be fun for me to fly out on that Friday and stay for the weekend. When I arrived in Orlando, I thought Scott was going to meet me at the airport and we would rent a car and drive back to the hotel. When I landed, I called him and he said that he wasn’t going to be able to make it to the airport and that I was going to have to rent a car and get to the hotel by myself. At first, I was upset. But then I thought that he was lying to me and was going to surprise me in the airport terminal. As I got off the plane, I kept trying to find him as I walked to baggage claim. I still did not see him and thought he might jump out and surprise me while I was waiting for my bag. Once I got my suitcase, Scott was still nowhere to be found. I called him once again and he said that he was still at the hotel and would not be able to come and meet me. As I walked down to the car rental area, I thought for sure he would be there waiting for me. He was not. I managed to rent a car and make it to the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, I called Scott to let him know I was there and asked if he would come down and park the car with me as it was dark and there were no close parking spots. He said no, so I immediately hung up the phone. I eventually made it to the room and Scott opened the door. He was dressed in a gray suit. I asked him if he was still dressed up for work. He said no and I didn’t think anything more of it. He then pointed to a brand new iPad that was on the couch. This was our Christmas gift to each other and I had been waiting for it to be delivered to the house for weeks. As it turns out, it was delivered and he just hid it from me and brought it to Orlando. He asked me to open it, so I did. Then he said, “well turn it on.” When I did, a picture of the most beautiful ring popped up on the screen. I looked over at him and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I immediately started crying and said yes. He also video tapped the whole thing with two different cameras from two different viewpoints. We then went out to dinner to celebrate and called both of our families to share the exciting news.
- The wedding was officiated by their friend, Ryan Zachos.
- Scott’s sister gave Courtney her grandmother’s handkerchief to tie around the bouquet.
- She also got a flower pin from her grandmother.
- The couple and their groomsmen made the table numbers.
- Courtney’s cousin made all of the ribbon wands for the couple’s exit.
- Escort cards were in the form of Mary’s Mountain Cookies – a Colorado favorite. (Side note: I LOVE their brownies in unspeakable ways. Aww…Freshman 15.)

I loved every part of my wedding day. I loved seeing how everything came together and how flawlessly the entire day went. The weather was absolutely perfect and we felt so surrounded by love from family and friends. The ceremony was my favorite part, though. We were married by a friend who wrote the entire ceremony and made it so personal for us. His words truly touched our hearts and will be something we will remember forever.
