Sometimes you don’t bring flowers to an engagement shoot, you bring the engagement shoot to the flowers! Instead of the usual Floral Friday post, I wanted to do something a little different again this week. Despite the rainy, dreary weather we’ve been having for what seems like an eternity now, it’s important to remember that it all has a purpose. Sometimes the most beautiful flowers of the year are also the most fleeting – fed by early rains and quickly giving way to the production of fruit. Spring on the Front Range comes with an abundance of flowering trees. Nature makes picture perfect floral arrangements on the branches just out of our reach. The opportunistic relish in this time and flock to the fields and orchards to get free floral goodness in large quantities for truly dreamy photos. With the expert eye of Dan Hand Photography in tow, Eric and Tara traveled to Eric’s childhood home in rural Longmont for their apple blossom engagement session. After taking photos surrounded by a tide of tiny pink and white flowers, they wandered Eric’s former neighborhood and posed among the quaint buildings and a stunning mountain backdrop. (The area around Longmont has always had my favorite mountain views on the Front Range.) What can I say? Nature is a great florist and this is a great engagement session. Happy spring!

PS – This last image totally rocks my world because I think it looks like a still from the early scenes of The Wizard of Oz with the storm brewing overhead. I’d say that Tara is definitely a good witch in that beautiful pale pink tutu skirt and with shoes that would be worth fighting over.
