Photo Ops: Denver Art Museum Engagement

Come with me on a journey down W. 13th Street in Denver. In a few short blocks of this Denver Art Museum engagement session, we see one of the most visually inspiring urban landscapes in town. Starting at British themed Pint’s Pub and moving east toward the Denver Public Library; Chelsea, Kyle, and their photographer, Angel, showcased each location along the path in ways I have not seen before. Two things that Infinite Pixels by Angel Photography seems to excel at without a doubt are framing an image to maximize the naturally artistic qualities of the location and capturing that all-important almost-kiss. I love the way the artwork, reflections, etc. act like glorious visual frames. No cheesy poses with the typical statues here. Instead we get to see the lesser noticed items like the library windows honored beautifully. But the star of the show was truly this couple’s chemistry. Many couples struggle to be affectionate on film even in discrete locations. This couple is standing next to traffic and it feels like it’s just the two of them. As a result they got to document a few kisses that major motion picture producers would envy. One of the best things a photographer can learn is that the moments leading up to a kiss and the reaction after undoubtedly trump the actual kiss in terms of beautiful photos. With Chelsea and Kyle, every step of the way is kinetic. I’m going to have to give them the “Hot Couple of the Year” award. (Sorry guys, I have no actual certificate for you…only the uncomfortable feeling of a strange blogger ranking your canoodling abilities. You’re welcome.)

From the photographer:

I could not have enjoyed this sweet couple more. Sarcastic, witty and totally at ease with each other. I absolutely loved getting to work with these two and Loved this session.

Winter Mountain Engagement on a Frozen Lake

By Season Hurd | | Comment

Due to the tremendous amount of real weddings and styled shoots on my plate, I have all but declared a moratorium on engagement sessions. But when this shoot hit my inbox I was very ready to make a little room. Because it’s beautiful, frankly. Tony and Tara are a very attractive couple with fun fashion sense and a strong ability to command the camera. Their dedication to shooting in a remote area really paid off and their photographer, Ashley Vanley, made some serious magic. (How did she get an aerial shot of them laying on the blanket? Did she trek forever with a ladder? Luge a step-stool across the lake? Can she levitate? Are there professional grade Selfie Sticks? Inquiring minds want to know!) I’m so tickled by the idea of frolicking on a frozen lake and I commend them for traveling a distance while still looking perfect, executing outfit changes, and having props! They are like the hardest working couple in engagement session history and they don’t appear to have even broken a sweat.

From the photographer:

This engagement shoot was located in the mountains of Palmer Lake Colorado. After a 2+ mile hike up to the frozen lakes we took photos on the lakes and in the pine trees. The couple are adventurous and wanted to show the beauty of Colorado in the winter with the snow and scenic views. After getting engaged last November, Tony & Tara plan on having a rustic barn wedding in Colorado this fall.
