Styled Shoot: Opulent Grant Humphreys Mansion Wedding

By Season Hurd | | Comment

Today is my 5 year Blogiversary! I’m currently a full month behind on promised posts, haven’t done any of the editorial pieces I vowed to do again, and am generally feeling overwhelmed. But being able to publish such a beautiful shoot on this historic day makes me feel like I’ve done something right! As a Colorado native, I feel a great connection to our history. Venues like the Grant Humphreys Mansion inspire pride somehow. Even as a grown woman, the sight of the Capital Building or any of the other historical buildings nearby brings me right back to childhood field trips and the awe I felt being in the presence of such elegance and history – that moment when you realize that your little home state is cooler than you thought. I expect such majesty to be behind a velvet rope for a tour group and it’s pretty awesome to me that people are living, working, and wedding in these fantastic buildings. So the idea of couples being granted the honor of having their weddings at these historical buildings rocks my world. (And for those of you who aren’t in love with Colorado history, at least you can feel the Titanic-era decadence?)

The Grant Humphreys Mansion is everything you expect from a 115 year old Neoclassical residence. To say that they don’t build them the same anymore is both cliché and an understatement. If you are in the market for an elegant, classic wedding; there are few more incredible places in Denver. Today’s shoot covers areas of the property that I haven’t seen before and I’m more in love than ever. I cannot get over the soft tone-on-tone mural that feels straight out of a chateaux. I want to stay in that room forever with the incredible painting of the woman in blue and just live off of cake! The bridal model and her commanding gown are just as timelessly beautiful as the location. I’m pretty sure that my child-self imagined weddings could be just.like.this.
